Our Certification Program is a comprehensive package consisting of: Intro, Intermediate, and Advanced courses (3-Days each), two 1-Day elective Special Topics classes (pick from: Funeral, Wedding, Silk, or Ikebana Design), one Shop Management class (1-Day), and a private 1-on-1 floral career advisement session with head faculty.
How it works:
Registering for the Certification Program gives a unique voucher code that’s used to sign up for aforementioned prerequisite classes.
Upon completion of all prerequisites, a Certification of Completion from Mina Design School is awarded.
Students can sign up and take classes at their own pace, with no expirations or time limits.
Introductory
Floral Design
(Three Day Course)
The introductory course is where students learn basic principles of composition, color, and texture as they pertain to floral design. Students will get hands-on experience with fresh and dried flowers, learn how to properly use tools and supplies, and will leave the course with a comprehensive knowledge of flowers, foliage, color schema, and the ability to make simple floral compositions.

Intermediate
Floral Design
(Three Day Course)
The intermediate course is intended for students with previous floral design experience. It covers industry terminology and trending design techniques with respect to line, form, mass, and filler materials. Design concepts such as balance, symmetry, proportion, and scale will also be covered, as well as more abstract concepts like rhyme and harmony relative to color and form.

Advanced
Floral Design (Three Day Course)
The advanced course fully prepares students for a wide range of professional jobs in the floral industry. Business-specific terms that pertain to floral merchandising and purchasing operations will be covered, as well as other accounting concepts that pertain to the business. This course will conclude with students exhibiting a mastery of color schema, principles of design, arrangement, composition, as well as a firm understanding of industry standard techniques and best practices needed to thrive in today’s fast-paced and rapidly changing floral industry.

Wedding Design
In this intensive 1-day course, students will master the fundamentals of planning the perfect wedding day, starting with the consultation of bride and groom all the way to developing a timeline, budget, contracts, and then executing them. Students will get hands-on experience creating wedding arrangement concepts such as boutonnieres, corsages, leis, church decor, table setups, bridal bouquets, maid of honor/bridesmaids bouquets, and pieces for the ring bearer and flower girl.
To meet the needs of Southern California’s diverse client demographics, this curriculum will cover specific design elements to meet the traditional and cultural characteristics of Chinese, Persian, Indian, and Catholic-style weddings, expanding the skill-set of students and increasing their viability as professional designers.
Church decor elements such as archers, pews, isles, pomanders, pedestals, candelabras, and altar arrangements will be covered, as well as decorations and arrangements for receptions, cake and food tables, and the stage.

Funeral Design
In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of designing funeral and sympathy arrangements. There will be a focus on international and patriotic ceremonial funeral designs, as well as more cultural and traditional arrangements and setups. Students will also work with different materials and arrangement shapes including easels, wreaths, hearts, and both closed and open casket arrangements. Finally, banner, flag, and ribbon selection will be covered.

Ikebana Design
Experience the wonders of Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement. Students will learn the basics of this field and will, by the end of the course, be able to create their own stunning pieces. In addition, Topiary (trimming and shaping plants into recognizable forms and figures) will also be covered. This is a 1-Day course that help students differentiate and stand out in today’s design industry with a unique skill-set.

Silk & Dried Flowers
Known as the “fiber of kings”, silk designs are known for their beauty and long-lasting shelf life. This method of decor is useful in many applications and popular among interior designers who require a specific and consistent texture, color, and balance. In this course, students will learn light interior design skill sets mixed with silk and dried floral design ideal for home, office, or hotel. Design concepts like color, texture, and proportion will be thoroughly covered and applied.

Holiday Design
This is an intensive 1-day course, with each arrangement covering a different major US holiday including Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Nothing brings more cheer during the holidays than beautiful arrangements, holiday glitz, elegance and nostalgia. Design principles such as color and light theory will be applied, as well as ribbon and bow work.

Shop Management
Have you ever wondered what it takes to open up your own flower shop? This course thoroughly walks you through all of the ins and outs of opening and owning a flower shop. Discussed topics include acquiring loans, city licenses, permits, product, and more. This course will be strictly dedicated to the business aspect of a floral shop. No floral designs will be discussed or created.
